Grant funding can be awarded to ambitious businesses who are ready to expand into new overseas markets, and the money can be used for a variety of activities to help get your exports off the ground.
Who can apply
The international trade accelerator grants are only available to SMEs (a company with fewer than 250 employees, and an annual turnover not exceeding €50m) based in the South West of England.
To be eligible to apply for this grant funding the company must first be enrolled on the FREE to join Export for Growth programme. For details on how to apply to join the programme please visit the How to Apply page here.
For a business cost to be eligible under this grant funding the activity must directly relate to business growth through international trade, and must be pre-agreed as part of your Export for Growth action plan.
Examples of eligible business costs include: international market research, website optimisation for overseas markets, market visits, international marketing campaigns, attending trade shows, consultancy for Intellectual Property protection.
Applications can be submitted for any amount of funding between a minimum of £1,000 up to a maximum of £20,000. The grant funding is provided on a 50% match-funded basis, meaning you will be required to commit to contribute 50% of the money from your own resources. Grants will not cover VAT.
When and how to apply
The current call for applications is open until 30th June 2017. Applications must be submitted no later than 5pm on the 30th June 2017 for assessment by the Export for Growth panel. The successful bids will then be announced on 17th July 2017.

Please note that this grant funding cannot be used to cover the cost of purchasing any 'business as usual' sevices such as: fixed assets, staff costs, any regular consultancy services, or regular domestic marketing or advertising.
